What is rosso toe closing?
Rosso toe closing sews the open toe shut on a separate Rosso machine after knitting. It is fast and durable, with a slightly thicker seam.
How it works
Rosso is the industry name for dedicated toe-closing machines. After knitting, the sock is turned and fed through the machine, which trims and sews the toe with an overlock-style seam. Audits often list this step as rosso or toe sewing.
At the production site we use in Istanbul, 4 Rosso machines close the toes knitted on the machines that do not link automatically.
Rosso or linked?
- Rosso: efficient for high volumes, strong, and cost-effective. The seam is slightly thicker, which most wearers do not notice in casual crew, ankle, or grip socks such as trampoline socks.
- Linked: a flatter seam that is better for sensitive feet, fine dress socks, and performance socks.
If toe comfort is part of your product promise, say so on the tech pack. The factory then plans the order on machines that link the toe instead of sending it to the Rosso line.
