amfori BSCI

What is an amfori BSCI audit?

amfori BSCI is a social compliance audit of a factory's working conditions under the amfori code of conduct. Sites get a rating, not a certificate.

What the audit checks

amfori BSCI is a program from amfori, a global business association. Approved auditors visit a production site and assess it against the amfori code of conduct, covering areas such as fair pay, working hours, health and safety, no child labour, no bonded labour, and workers’ rights to organize.

Ratings, not a certificate

Each performance area is scored, and the site gets an overall rating from A, the best, to E. A result is valid for a set period, after which the site is audited again. Because it is an audit, it describes one site at one point in time.

What to ask a supplier

  • Which site was audited. A rating covers that site only, so ask which facility will make your socks.
  • The audit date, rating, and expiry.
  • The amfori ID, so the result can be checked through the amfori platform by members.

BSCI is often requested alongside a Sedex SMETA audit for social compliance, and alongside product standards such as OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for substance safety.
